I love this place! Genuine and truly nice staff. I have been using Dr. Brian Schuessler for many years and love his expertise. I get regular monthly spine adjustments and have also used the MLS laser for an elbow injury that I sustained. I have always received great customer service and expert medical advice and treatment.

Arthritis

The Arthritis Foundation reports that an estimated 54 million adults have received a doctor’s diagnosis of arthritis. For patients who have arthritis, our team may offer natural solutions that promote better overall health at Pro-Active Medical Center in Niceville, Florida. Relief from arthritis pain is as simple as scheduling an appointment by calling the office or booking online.

Arthritis is a condition that occurs when you have inflammation in one or more of your joints. It tends to worsen as you age. If you have arthritis, you may have the following symptoms:

  • Swelling
  • Pain
  • Stiffness
  • Decreased range of motion
  • Redness

The cause of arthritis depends on the type. For instance, osteoarthritis is the most common form and stems from joint damage from wear and tear from regular use, injury, or infection. Rheumatoid arthritis occurs when the immune system attacks your joints.

The age group that suffers from arthritis most often is people 65 and older. This is because certain types of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis, are more prevalent as you age. Even if you develop it early, most forms of arthritis tend to worsen as you age.

Age isn’t the only factor, however. For instance, if you have a family history of arthritis, you’re more at risk for developing it. Your genetic makeup increases your vulnerability to environmental factors that stimulate the onset of arthritis.

Concerning gender, women are more susceptible to arthritis than men. Men, however, develop gout more frequently than women. Having a previous joint injury or obesity makes you more likely to develop arthritis, too.

Our healthcare providers may diagnose arthritis based solely on your symptoms and a thorough examination. However, further testing may be necessary. Possible testing includes:

  • X-rays: Low levels of radiation show joint spacing and any changes to the bones to track the progression of your arthritis
  • CT scan: X-rays from various angles create cross-sectional views of your bone and tissue
  • MRI: A combination of radio waves and a magnetic field generates detailed cross-sectional views of your soft tissue (i.e cartilage, tendons, ligaments)
  • Ultrasound: Imaging system uses soundwaves to view soft tissue and bony surfaces
Our clinic takes a conservative yet multi-faceted approach to helping arthritic joints Often gentle mobilizations to the joints and exercise therapy to improve biomechanics is enough to reduce pain. But, sometimes depending on the severity we need to incorporate our state of the art MLS Laser therapy.

Also, our highly trained medical staff has effective regenerative joint protocols to help cushion the joints and help to restore function. Often at-home exercises are recommended to enhance your results.

Another possible treatment is dietary changes or supplements to promote joint health.
